My Story

I started with a hook, because I wanted to make something that exists nowhere else.

Stanislava Chimeva

I'm Stanislava Chimeva. I make bags by hand, stitch by stitch. Each one starts to exist when a woman asks for it. Not before, and never for a shelf.

Then it passes whole through my hands. Two weeks, stitch by stitch, until it becomes hers.

One bag,one woman

One bag, one woman

The world offers her the same bag it offers everyone. Made a million times, carried by millions, meant for no one.

I don't believe in that. So I chose a different way, one that is slower and harder, but with love and for just one woman at a time.

Whymy work

Why my work

Every bag you've ever bought asked you to give something up. The color was close, but never quite yours. The shape was lovely, and it belonged to someone else. And you learned to live with it.

Here there's nothing to give up, because nothing exists yet. You tell me what you want, and the piece begins from there. So you never explain your style again. The ones who see it, see it. The rest walk past, and that's just fine.

More than yarn

The craft comes from my grandmother. Lining, edging, hardware. All of it passes through my hands until it becomes whole. A piece, not a product.

What no one sees

The edges, the back, the inside. That's where you can tell whether something was made with love.

Two weeks

That's how long a bag takes. Not because I'm slow, but because that's the time it takes to come into being.

Your companion

Not a product. You reach for it in the morning, and the day gets a little softer.

How a piececomes to be

How a piece comes to be

It starts with a shape. One of mine, or a photo you found somewhere and couldn't forget. From there we go slowly, and you tell me what you want. The color, the yarn, the hardware, the size.

What stands at the end isn't something bought. It's something that wouldn't exist without you.

What isleft over

What is left over

I start a bag when a woman asks me for it. Not before, not by the dozen, not for a shelf. So nothing is left over here, no stockroom, no boxes, nothing that ends up in a landfill one day.

And if something stretches or wears after years, we put it right together. You don't have to replace it. 🤍
